How an Electrolux dryer reports a fault
An Electrolux dryer with an electronic control reports fault codes across the ELFE electric and ELFG gas families. Door, airflow, sensor and power faults each have their own code, and reading it points an experienced technician at a specific part before anything is replaced.
The codes you will see
E42 means the door is open or not detected closed. EF1 flags a ventilation blockage — inspect the lint filter, exhaust tube and outside vent. E4 means the humidity sensor failed; the dryer finishes the current cycle and should be serviced if it recurs. H2/B2 is an external power-supply issue, and H4/B4 flags incorrect wiring from installation. On the earlier control platform, E1 is a thermistor failure, E2 a tripped high-limit safety thermostat, E3 a control-board communication error and E5 an open outlet thermistor.
What to check, and when to call
Clean the full vent path and lint screen first for EF1 — restricted airflow drives most airflow and high-limit codes. Confirm the door latches fully for E42. A recurring thermistor (E1, E5), high-limit (E2) or control (E3) code needs an experienced, independent technician with the correct genuine OEM part; H2/B2 points at the household supply rather than the dryer.
