Common issues and maintenance
Electrolux dryers report a focused set of codes rather than a long numeric list. The verified current-platform set includes E 42 (door open — check for an obstruction and a fully closed door), EF1 (ventilation blockage — inspect the lint filter, exhaust tube, and outside vent cap), and E 4 (humidity sensor failure, which typically lets the current cycle finish). Two status indicators, H2/B2 (an external power-supply issue — contact the utility, not the dryer) and H4/B4 (incorrect installation wiring), point outside the dryer itself, while AD and Mute are simply cycle indicators rather than problems. Older Electrolux dryer control platforms use a shorter E1 through E5 set: E1 for an open or failed thermistor, E2 for a tripped high-limit thermostat (a genuine safety component), E3 for a control-board communication error, and E5 for an out-of-range outlet thermistor reading. By far the most common real-world complaint — a long dry time or no heat at all — traces back to a restricted vent far more often than a failed part, which is exactly what the EF1 code is telling you.
